Where to go and what to do and how much time do I have to do the things I want to do? That is the question countless day trippers ponder while staring at a computer screen at the office on a Monday morning with Friday four long days away. Yet millions wait for the magic moment to release their inner child and that is usually Saturday morning when the family is packing the car with: food and water, extra clothes, something for the kids to keep occupied during the drive, a first-aid kit, and the very important sunscreen. The last thing that must be done is to set the surveillance alarmsystem before leaving the house.
The choices of where to go rest with the driver and how much and how long they wish to drive. Most day trips entail a few hours of driving and the rest of the day fun then a few more hours of driving till home. However, the drive does not have to be long. There are many places to go close to home.
My family is the epitome of diversification from thrills to sedentary enjoyment and they run the gamut of fun things to do. Recently, we went on a fun day trip to the Butterfly Pavilion in Longmont, Colorado north of Denver. This is an educational place with many thousands of butterfly's loose in an enclosed tropical area that holds a sweltering, stick to your clothes temperature, for the butterfly's but not very comfortable for the visitors. In addition to the butterfly's, the pavilion also has an area of insects including: different species of spiders including Black Widows (some like the Tarantula you can hold and let crawl on you), other insects like the African giant cock roach (that is ten times larger than the domestic roach), beetles from all over the world, and others too numerous to mention.
The Butterfly Pavilion is an educational and fun experience designed for families and makes for a great day trip.
